After days of rain, and with typical ‘Picture Of Me’ good luck, the sun came out on the day and we found some great locations for the shots. Klaus and I wish Silke and Michael tons of happiness for the future – and thanks for making being a wedding photographer such a huge pleasure! Here are just a few tasters for you.
So time is racing towards Summer – here we are in May already! April was pretty eventful for me with a large job for SkyOne TV and the Rival Media group, together with some amazing family photography work (images to follow, when I catch my breath) There are still a few weekday and weekend dates available for weddings this Spring and Summer – although the Autumn is booking-up really quickly this year (are there more people doing autumn weddings this year?). Welcome to a 2010 review and ‘best-of’ here at Picture Of Me. Klaus, myself and our design team of Christine and Kathrin have been busy with some amazing weddings both in the UK and over in Germany, and we have had the truly excellent pleasure of photographing some pretty special couples. Before we started shooting weddings together a couple of years ago we were full of concern and apprehension over whether we would be able to live up to our own high expectations of producing gorgeous, classy yet modern photography for brides and grooms. As professional photographers (and tough self-critics) we knew from the start that we only wanted to produce photos we would be proud of, yet we recognised how fast moving and pressurised wedding days can be. We were full of questions – how would we cope, would we have time to make great shots, is that woman in the blue hat the groom’s mother, where were the toilets???
Well we shouldn’t have worried because every wedding we have photographed over the last two years has been a total joy with the most amazing couples, guests and venues (and easy to find bathroom facilities). Of course it was hard work like nothing we’d done before – I remember driving home after the first wedding we shot together saying to Klaus “Hey, that was the longest, toughest day of photography we have ever done” but Klaus was already snoring like a baby in the back of the car…… But we knew from that very first wedding that this was a real honour to be involved on such a special one-off day, and to be able to capture for ever these fabulous moments. Of course the wedding day remains a long and hard working day (not to mention the week of processing the images afterwards) but it gets easier and we were always made so welcome that by the end of the day we felt we had known knew the couples and the guests for years – honestly I think we enjoyed the weddings as much as the guests did!
Working as a team could have been difficult – we are both long experienced photographers and long time friends and there was always a chance that we may not have made a brilliant team together (we’re both pretty headstrong), but the reality was that we seem to make a perfect professional team – and knowing that you can 100% trust your photographer partner to get the photograph is truly liberating.
Thank you to our all wonderful clients from 2010 – you made this year really special for us. So anyway, enough gabbing on – here are a small selection of some of our favourite wedding photographs from 2010. I will make another gallery with some of the fun evening PhotoBooth photographs as well. Looking forward to 2011 with some great new ideas and products – blimey, looking at the calender we are already getting busy for the spring and summer….
